Early Life
Sumbul Touqeer was born in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and spent her early childhood in Katni, Madhya Pradesh. After her parents separated when she was six, Sumbul, along with her younger sister Saniya, moved to Delhi with their father, Touqeer Hasan Khan, who raised them as a single parent. Sumbul’s father, a dance choreographer, played a significant role in nurturing her and her sister’s interest in dance and acting. The family later moved to Mumbai to explore opportunities in the entertainment industry.
Sumbul completed her high school education at NTCC High School in Malad West, Mumbai, and later pursued her 12th standard through a private school. Initially enrolled in a commerce course, Sumbul soon realized her passion for cinematography and decided to focus on that career path. She received acting training at the Sehejmoodra Acting Academy, run by Monika Verma.
Career
Sumbul Touqeer began her acting journey as a child artist in various TV shows. In 2014, she appeared in supporting roles in Har Mushkil Ka Hal Akbar Birbal on Big Magic and Jodha Akbar on Zee TV. She also participated in dance reality shows like India’s Dancing Superstars (2013) and Hindustan Ka Big Star (2014).
Between 2014 and 2016, Sumbul was seen in popular TV series such as Aahat, Gangaa, Baalveer, and Mann Mein Vishwaas Hai. She continued to appear in various TV shows, including Waaris, Chakradhari Ajay Krishna, Chandragupta Maurya, and Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein.
Her breakthrough role came in 2020 when she starred as Imlie in the TV show Imlie on StarPlus, which catapulted her to fame. Prior to this, she had made her Bollywood debut in 2019 with the film Article 15, where she played the role of Amali. In the same year, she appeared in the music video for the song Vaaste.
