Jemimah Rodrigues, hailing from Bhandup, Mumbai, shares a close bond with her two brothers, Enoch and Eli. Their childhood was filled with cricket practice together. Jemimah’s cricket journey began at a tender age of four.
The family later moved to Bandra West, seeking better sports facilities. Jemimah’s father, Ivan Rodrigues, played a significant role as a coach in her school and even contributed to forming the girls’ cricket team.
Before pursuing cricket professionally, Jemimah showcased her talent in field hockey and was part of the U-17 and U-19 Maharashtra hockey teams during her school days.
Career
In November 2017, Jemimah achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the second woman player to score a double century in a 50-over match, scoring 202 runs against the Saurashtra team. Jemimah continued to shine, earning a spot in the Indian women’s cricket team for the three-match ODI series against South Africa in February 2018.
Her debut in Women’s Twenty20 International Cricket followed in February 2018, and she made her mark in one-day international cricket against Australia women in March 2018.
Jemimah’s outstanding performance in the 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 tournament led to her being recognized by the International Cricket Council. Following this, she was signed by Baseline Ventures to manage her commercial interests.
