Tripti Dimri was born and raised in Garhwal, Uttarakhand, in a supportive Hindu family to parents Meenakshi and Dinesh Dimri. She shared in interviews that her parents always encouraged her career aspirations. She completed her schooling at Delhi Public School in Firozabad, followed by a degree in psychology from Sri Aurobindo College. After graduating, she pursued her passion for acting at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune.
Career
Tripti Dimri made her acting debut in 2017 with the comedy film “Poster Boys,” directed by Shreyas Talpade. Although her performance was moderately praised, she gained more recognition later that year with her lead role in the romantic drama “Laila Majnu,” where she played the character of Laila opposite Avinash Tiwary. Critics appreciated her ability to add depth to her character.
Dimri’s breakthrough came in 2020 when she starred in the supernatural drama “Bulbbul,” directed by Anvita Dutt and produced by Anushka Sharma. Her portrayal of the protagonist earned her a Filmfare OTT Award for Best Actor in a Web Original Film (Female). Critics praised her nuanced performance and her captivating screen presence.
In 2022, Dimri reunited with director Anvita Dutt for the film “Qala,” where she played the title role of a young singer, sharing the screen with Swastika Mukherjee and Babil Khan.
