Malavika Mohanan embarked on her acting career after completing a Mass Media degree from Wilson College, Mumbai. Initially aiming to pursue cinematography or directing like her father, her career took a different turn when she was cast in the Malayalam film “Pattam Pole” (2013) opposite Dulquer Salmaan. Despite mixed reviews for the film, her performance was noted by critics.
Her next projects included “Nirnayakam” (2015), where she played a ballet dancer, and “Naale,” which was halted midway. Her Kannada debut, “Naanu Mattu Varalakshmi” (2016), earned her critical acclaim. The crime thriller “The Great Father” (2017) further solidified her acting credentials.
Malavika’s significant breakthrough came with Majid Majidi’s “Beyond the Clouds” (2017), where she played Tara, a role that showcased her versatility and earned positive reviews. She continued to rise in popularity with Tamil films such as “Petta” (2019) and “Master” (2021).
