Early Life:
Rumeen Farhana was born into a politically influential family in Islampur, Brahmanbaria. Her father, Oli Ahad, was a well-known Bangladeshi politician. She completed her secondary education at Holy Cross School and her higher secondary education at Viqarunnisa Noon School and College. Farhana pursued her higher studies in law from the University of London and later obtained her Bar-at-Law from Lincoln’s Inn, UK.

Rumeen Farhana is an established lawyer and politician. As a barrister, she worked in the legal profession at the High Court of Bangladesh. She serves as the International Affairs Secretary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), one of the major political parties in the country.
In the 11th National Parliamentary Elections, Farhana was elected as the only female Member of Parliament (MP) representing BNP, becoming one of the few opposition leaders in the parliament after the highly criticized 2018 elections. She remained an active voice for the party in Bangladesh’s political landscape until her resignation on 11 December 2022.
